A Guided Journey through Holy Week
In this Holy Week Bible Reading Plan, you are invited to pause, reflect, and take a deeper dive into the narrative of Jesus’s last week on earth. Each day offers an opportunity to retrace his final steps and contemplate His sacrifice, grace, and victory over sin and death.
Through these Scriptures, we witness the depth of Jesus’s love poured out for humanity, His unwavering obedience to the Father’s will, and the hope that springs eternal from His resurrection. Moreover, as we meditate on the suffering and triumph of Jesus, we are reminded of the unshakable foundation of our faith and the assurance of salvation that it brings!
So, may we immerse ourselves in the story of our redemption as we anticipate the celebration of Easter morning—the ultimate triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and life over death!
Palm Sunday
We begin our Holy Week journey by reflecting on Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. As you read, consider the humility and majesty of Christ, who fulfilled ancient prophecies by riding on a donkey, symbolizing peace. Reflect on the crowds’ response and ponder the significance of Jesus as the long-awaited Messiah.
Monday
On this day, Jesus enters the temple and cleanses it, driving out the moneychangers and declaring, “My house shall be called a house of prayer.” As you meditate on this passage, contemplate Christ’s zeal for the purity of worship and His authority as the Son of God.
Tuesday
Jesus confronts religious hypocrisy and delivers scathing rebukes against the religious leaders of His time. Take time to examine your own heart and motives in light of Jesus’ warnings against outward piety devoid of true faith. Allow His words to challenge and convict you as you seek sincerity and authenticity in your relationship with God.
Wednesday
As Holy Week progresses, tension mounts, and the plot to betray Jesus unfolds. Judas Iscariot conspires with the religious authorities to hand Jesus over for thirty pieces of silver. Reflect on the depths of human betrayal and the sovereignty of God, who works all things according to His purpose.
Maundy Thursday
On this solemn evening, Jesus shares a final meal with His disciples, instituting the Lord’s Supper. As you read about this intimate gathering, contemplate the significance of Christ’s sacrifice represented in the bread and wine. Ponder the depth of His love and the humility of His service as He washes His disciples’ feet.
Good Friday
Holy Saturday
As Holy Week draws to a close, take time to contemplate the silence of Holy Saturday—the day between Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Reflect on the disciples’ grief and confusion, as well as the anticipation of the fulfillment of God’s promises. Consider the significance of this interim period and the hope that lies beyond the grave.
Resurrection Sunday
Finally, rejoice in the glorious reality of Christ’s resurrection! On this triumphant day, meditate on the empty tomb and the angel’s proclamation, “He is not here; for He is risen.” Reflect on the victory of Christ over sin and death, and the assurance of eternal life for all who believe in Him. Rejoice in the hope of the resurrection and the promise of His imminent return!
As we conclude this Holy Week Bible reading plan, may our hearts be filled with gratitude for the immeasurable love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. May we walk in the light of His truth, proclaiming His gospel to a world in need of redemption. And may this Holy Week deepen our faith, strengthen our devotion, and draw us closer to the One who gave His life for our salvation.
