OUR VISION

We live to bring Jesus’s Kingdom to the city of Owosso.

That is to say, we labor to bring Jesus’s rescue, his reign, and his blessing to our city! We live to see the day when it is uncommon to walk down the streets of Owosso and not hear everyone speaking of the goodness of God; where sorrow and sadness are replaced with joy and gladness, and where strife and division are given over to peace and unity!

OUR STRATEGY

WE COMMUNE

com·mune: “to communicate intimately.”

Our strategy does not revolve around a how, but a Who. We believe that the success of any great gospel endeavor hinges first and foremost on a God who, for His glory, answers the prayers of His people when they ask according to His will. We at Convergent Church commit to ensuring prayerful communion with God is a top priority in our lives – that we would know the will of God for the City of Owosso, and see it fulfilled.

WE CONVERGE

con·verge: “to meet at a point, or incline towards one another, coming closer together, especially in characteristics or ideas.”

The people of Convergent Church prioritize coming together to collectively center their lives around the person and works of Jesus Christ. By using their spiritual gifts, through prayer, by renewing their minds through the scriptures, participating in the Lord’s Supper, and baptisms, serving the community, and living on mission, they become a greater reflection of Jesus. We don’t only “attend church” but dwell together as Christ’s church.

WE CONVEY

con·vey: “to communicate, impart or make known”

God’s people are called to teach and disciple one another, reminding one another of the Gospel and the way in which God has called us to live. This is accomplished by intentional and relational dwelling together with the overarching goal of growing in Christlikeness.

WE COMMISSION

com·mis·sion: “a group of people officially charged with a particular function.”

Disciples of Christ at Convergent Church live sent lives. We are witnesses sent out to display the truth we profess and hope in – the gospel of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this by viewing our homes, neighborhoods, and vocations as our God-given mission field.

WE COLLABORATE

col·lab·o·rate: “to cooperate with an agency or instrumentality with which one is not immediately connected”

Centered around the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom, Convergent Church prioritizes collaboration with other churches as a necessary means to fulfill the Great Commission.

OUR VALUES

The Gospel.

The gospel revealed in the Scriptures is the good news that through Jesus Christ alone, sinners are rescued, redeemed, and restored to God. It is the foundation of our faith and the message we proclaim to the world.

Transformation.

Because the gospel doesn’t just save us from something but for something, we pursue ongoing transformation in Christ-likeness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Community.

Because God loves and values His people, His people love and value one another. We pursue authentic, biblical community where encouragement, accountability, and care reflect the heart of Christ.

Transparency.

Because Jesus died to free us from our sin and no longer condemns us, we openly confess our sins and weaknesses to one another to find healing.

Gospel Conversations.

Because people are saved by hearing and believing the truth of the gospel, we are intentional about sharing the gospel with others.

Generosity.

Because we have been given all we need in Jesus, we are open-handed with what belongs to God: His gospel, His people, and His resources.
